Disney has a magical way of combining magical moments with health and fitness.
While Disney World offers an endless number of activities outside of the theme parks, it also has a number of activities that are both fun and healthy. And sure, you may have already heard of the bicycle rentals or basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts (which are certainly fun), but have you heard of these 5 fun fitness offerings?
The best part is these activities are perfect for adults and kiddos alike – even if you feel like you’re not in tip-top shape.
Here’s 7 fitness offerings at the Disney World hotels that your family will love!
Family Fitness Classes
Table of Contents
Over at the Lion King area of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, you can enjoy a family fitness class to get your body moving and ready for the day. Dance and sing a long to your favorite songs from The Lion King with your kiddos! These classes are for guests of all ages and last around 25 minutes.
If Polynesian adventure is more of your style, you can head over to the Great Ceremonial Lawn at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for a Moana-inspired fitness class. This class combines stretching, singing, and dancing with inspirational music from Moana – a great way to energize you!
On Demand: Disney Family Wellness
Make sure to check out your in-room televisions after a long, tiring day at the theme parks. You can keep your mind and body recharged with a variety of family wellness activities. You can stretch with Mickey Mouse and explore other short videos about sleep and healthy eating. You can even take a few moments with Ashley Eckstein on her video Star Wars Mindful Matters for a mindfulness lesson inspired by Star Wars!
Yoga Sessions
How much more relaxing can things get with a morning yoga session at Disney World?
Story Time Yoga is a great family-friendly yoga session where you can enjoy playful poses with your little ones. This activity is offered at six resorts:
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
And if you’re a more experienced yogi, Disney World hotels also offer Disney Fit Yoga, which combines traditional yoga with Disney music. This class is available for people with all skill levels but is recommended for guests ages 12 and older. Currently, Disney Fit Yoga is offered at two different Disney World hotels:
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
- Disney’s Old Key West Resort
Archery Classes
This is one really cool hidden secret of Disney World.
Over at Disney’s fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, you can channel your inner Merida and learn from professional archery guides. This 75-minute experience is dedicated to firing at a range with targets. The best part is that each class size is limited to ten guests, meaning you get personalized advice from your archery guide.
Keep in mind though that advance reservations are highly recommended, but walk-ups are welcome as space permits.
Surfing Classes
Another really fun fitness activity you can do is surf at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon before the park opens to guests or after the park closes to guests.
Typhoon Lagoon offers two types of surfing sessions. With the Open Surf session, you can share the pool with other surfers and spend 3-hours riding the waves. With the Private Surf session, you can host your own special event with you and your friends.
And you didn’t already know, the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is North America’s largest outdoor wave pool!
Canoeing and Kayaking
Riding a bicycle around the BoardWalk Inn or Old Key West is a great way to explore the Disney World, but you won’t want to miss out on exploring Disney by water!
Over at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, you can rent a kayak or canoe and go on a paddling adventure on Disney World’s scenic streams and ponds. To rent a boat, head over to The Bike Barn at the Meadow Recreation Area between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Reservations aren’t required.
Wellness Scavenger Hunt
You may have heard of scavenger hunts at all the Disney World hotels, but did you know that all of the All-Star Resorts offer a wellness scavenger hunt?
At the front desk or merchandise locations of Disney’s All-Star Music, Sports, and Movies Resorts, you can pick up a map and start exploring the resorts to solve clues and complete fitness challenges. Challenges include taking a victory lap around life-size props of your favorite movies or finding hidden characters on the football field. And like any other scavenger hunt, you can pick up your celebratory pin at any merchandise location to show what you accomplished!
