A Quick Guide on Where to Eat, Play and Stay

Aruba

Welcome to our newest blog series: Destinations At-A-Glance! Each month, we’ll feature a different vacation destination and highlight what to do, see and eat while you’re there to make the most of your time in that location! Destinations At-A-Glance will be organized into lists for quick reference and convenience, so don’t forget to bookmark any vacation destinations you’re considering!

Let’s Explore Aruba At-A-Glance!

Aruba

Why Aruba?

1. Aruba is below the Hurricane Belt

Caribbean destinations are popular year-round, but some travelers have reservations about visiting during “Hurricane Season.” Luckily, with its location well below the “Hurricane Belt” of the Caribbean, Aruba is far less likely to experience extreme weather conditions!

Aruba

2. Aruba is nicknamed One Happy Island

It’s hard NOT to be Happy while you’re in Aruba! The people and the overall attitude and lifestyle of the island have earned it the nickname of “One Happy Island,” and Aruba absolutely lives up to its (nick)name!

3. Aruba has amazingly beautiful beaches!

Of course, one of the major draws of any Caribbean destination are the beautiful beaches, and Aruba has plenty to choose from! Keep reading for what beaches to start with!

What To See

Aruba

1. Eagle Beach and Baby Beach

These two beaches are generally regarded as two of the most picturesque in Aruba, but they are on completely opposite sides of the island, so don’t plan them both for the same day!

Aruba National Park

2. Arikok National Park

Home to many of the most visited sites in Aruba, Arikok National Park is well worth a visit, but the terrain is not easily navigated, so be sure to ask your Favorite Love of the Magic Travel Advisor for tour suggestions!

Aruba

3. The Flamingos!

Flamingos are almost like celebrities in Aruba: fun to see and take pictures with, but not always so easy to find unless you know where to go. A day trip to De Palm Island, or a day pass to the private island of one of the high-end hotels are your best options to see these brilliant birds!

What To Do

Aruba

1. Take a Tour of the Island, including Oranjestad

This is great to do on one of your first days to get the lay of the land, and decide where you’d like to go back to and spend more time throughout your trip. In Oranjestad, opt for a Trolley Ride through the city!

Aruba Lighthouse

2. Climb California Lighthouse

The tallest structure on the island, climbing to the top offers panoramic views, and even without the climb, the Lighthouse is worth a visit just for the history.

Aruba

3. Go on a Boat or Catamaran Ride

While a land tour is recommended at the start of your trip, whenever you’re on any island, you should also take a boat tour of some kind to experience the surrounding waters. Depending on your preference, whether it’s a snorkeling boat excursion, or a sunset catamaran ride with champagne, your favorite Love of the Magic Vacations Travel Advisor find just what you’re looking for!

Where To Eat

Aruba

1. Driftwood Restaurant

Traditional Aruban Seafood Restaurant in Oranjestad

2. Bistro De Suikertuin

Dutch-Influenced Traditional Aruban fare, also serving High Tea, in a mansion in Oranjestad

3. Old Cunucu House

Authentic, Local Aruban Cuisine in Noord, near the Palm Beach area (some dishes here are adventurous, so check the menu beforehand!)

Hidden Gems Not to Miss

Aruba

1. Mangel Halto Beach

This secluded beach is perfect for soaking up some sun in a more private location; it’s also a great spot for snorkeling, with clear shallow waters and an abundance of mangroves.

2. Nicolaas Store

Located in San Nicolas, this “Store” is really a community museum showcasing some of Aruba’s colorful history.

3. The Dutch Pancake House

Leaning into the Dutch influence, this Pancake house in Oranjestad is well known as the best breakfast spot on the island.

Where To Stay

Aruba

Aruba has an abundance of incredible resorts and hotels all over the island. Depending on your preferences, whether you’re looking for the best views, or walking distance to great restaurants in Oranjestad, or if you need kid-friendly accommodations, your favorite Love of the Magic Vacations Travel Advisor will be able to recommend the best choices for your needs!
