Let’s Go!

Merida Mexico

Day 1

As mentioned, one of the perks of choosing a trip to Mexico is its proximity to the United States, so (depending where in the country you’re coming from, of course) you shouldn’t have too long of a travel day to make it to the Yucatan Peninsula, where your Mexican journey will begin!

You’ll arrive in Merida, where you’ll be greeted by your private driver, who will seamlessly bring you from the airport to your hotel. After settling in to your accommodations and freshening up after your travels, you’ll have some time to explore the area around your hotel, and consult your knowledgeable concierge for a fantastic dinner reservation suggestion.

Merida Mexico

Day 2

Get ready for the first experience of your Myriad of Mexico Journey: exploring Merida, the capital of Yucatan, with your own private driver-guide for the day. Merida, an ancient Mayan city, founded in 1542, has a unique blend of Spanish Colonial and Mayan influences in its architecture, with a delightful city center full of narrow streets, grand plazas, and buildings with colorful facades and ornate details.

Your day will begin with a visit to the stunning Paseo de Montejo, a grand boulevard lined with impressive mansions showcasing Italian and French architectural styles. After that, you’ll head to the city’s main cathedral, a beautiful neoclassical gem dating back to the 16th century (and also one of the first cathedrals in the Americas, boasting intricate religious artwork and a rich history).

Merida Mexico

Next, you’ll stop by the elegant Palacio de Gobierno, a 19th-century structure with a green arcaded exterior, which currently serves as the seat of the state government of Yucatan. From there, you’ll visit the historic Palacio Municipal, Merida’s city hall, which is a striking example of colonial architecture featuring a grand entrance and a beautiful courtyard.

After your full day city tour, you’ll surely be looking forward to tucking into the latest restaurant recommendation of your concierge before resting up for tomorrow’s adventure.

Uxmal Mexico

Day 3

History Buffs, rejoice! Today you’ll be traveling back in time by exploring some of the famed ancient Mayan ruins! Once again under the direction of your expert driver and guide, who will unveil the sophistication of this once-thriving civilization, you’ll head out on a full day tour of Uxmal, the ancient Mayan city. To get there, you’ll begin your day with a scenic one-hour drive through the captivating Yucatan countryside, during which you can take in the natural beauty of the Mexican landscape.

Upon reaching the archaeological site, you’ll be captivated by towering walls and formidable structures, which serve as a testament to the grandeur of Mayan culture. Here, your guide will take you on a Deep Dive into the history of the 130-foot Adivino Pyramid, rumored to have been built in a single night by a dwarf and a witch around 560 AD. You won’t believe how the myths come to life before you, and how the religious significance becomes clear while you discover the history of this imposing structure.

Uxmal Mexico

Your day’s journey will continue to Cuadrilatero de las Monjas, an architectural complex featuring four interconnected buildings and courtyards. Here, your guide will draw your attention to the intricate stone carvings and stucco reliefs depicting gods and mythological creatures on the walls, giving you a thorough understanding of the historical and mythological foundations that shaped Mayan life.

From there, you’ll visit the Casa de las Tortugas, an elegant building adorned with carved turtles, which served as a residence for the Mayan elite. After discovering the building’s distinctive features, like the astronomical alignments and other intriguing decorations, you’ll have time to take a leisurely stroll through the gardens and courtyards, absorbing the tranquil atmosphere while reflecting on the history you just learned of this once-mighty civilization.

Mexican Cuisine

Later in the afternoon, you’ll be treated to lunch at a local restaurant, before heading back to your hotel in Merida. Upon returning to the city, your concierge will be able to recommend a fantastic spot for dinner, where you can recount your day’s enriching journey into the heart of Mayan history. And you will probably want to pack up a bit in the evening, since you’ll be transferring to a new hotel tomorrow!

Chichen Itza

Day 4

Today you’ll be treated to the best of both worlds: a visit to one of the most famous historical sites in Mexico, and a luxurious stay at one of Mexico’s premier beach destinations. Although by the end of the day, you’ll have reached the beautiful Playa Del Carmen, where you’ll be staying for the remainder of your nights in Mexico, the highlight of the day will surely be the journey to get there, since you’ll be spending much of the day in UNESCO-listed Chichen Itza.

As usual, you’ll be picked up by your private drive and guide, and you’ll begin the day with a scenic ninety-minute drive through the picturesque Yucatan countryside. Once you reach  Chichen Itza, you’ll be treated to a midday feast at a local restaurant before delving into famous historical sites that await. Reenergized and ready for exploration, your guide will immerse you in the wonders of Chichen Itza, a pre-Columbian settlement crafted by the Aztecs around 600 AD.

Chichen Itza

Here, you’ll uncover the secrets of iconic landmarks, like the Kukulkan Pyramid, a breathtaking example of ancient Mesoamerican architecture (the Pyramid stands at approximately 100 feet tall, with each of the four sides featuring a staircase of 91 steps). As you stand in awe, you’ll be transported back to the Aztec era of 1,500 years ago, during which the Aztecs had a highly ritualistic way of life.

While in Chichen Itza, you’ll also have time to explore the Ball Court, the grandest arena for ancient sports in Mesoamerica, before proceeding to the Warriors’ Temple, where carved warriors stand guard in front of a sacred shrine. Lastly, you may (or may not) want to visit the Cenote Sagrado, a sacred sinkhole once utilized for solemn human sacrifices.

Playa Del Carmen Mexico

Once your visit to Chichen Itza has ended, your drive to Playa Del Carmen will give you time to reflect on the extraordinary experiences of today’s adventure before reaching your new accommodations.

Mexican Resort

Day 5

With a few days of historical exploration under your belt, it’s time to switch gears into relaxation now that you’ve made it to the gorgeous beach destination of Playa Del Carmen. Here, you can take some time to unwind and bask in the splendor of one of Mexico’s top-tier luxury resorts. Renowned for its world-class dining and wellness offerings, your chosen resort stands as a true haven for the senses, and a retreat for relaxation, rejuvenation, and romance. Nestled within a private gated community connected by scenic canal waterways, the resort provides an exclusive and secluded escape.

Instead of heading out with a private guide, today you’ll be able to explore your own immediate surroundings. The unique tropical landscape of your resort, featuring lush mangroves, serene waterways, and pristine coastlines, this grand sanctuary invites you to connect with nature in the lap of luxury.

Yucatan Beach

In addition to slipping into some relaxation time, you’ll also be invited to indulge your palate with an array of culinary delights. The resort’s diverse restaurants each offer a distinct setting and concept for unforgettable dining experiences throughout your stay. Whether you decide to savor local, national, or international dishes, the options cater to all tastes and preferences.

Your day will be a leisurely exploration of the various pools, beaches and relaxation spots throughout your resort, punctuated only by your choice of cuisine for meals and snacks throughout the day. Word of the day: Indulge!

Tulum Mexico

Day 6

Though you may not want to leave your resort, today, you’ll be back on the road to exploration with your private driver and guide (don’t worry, you’ll be back to your resort with plenty of time to enjoy its offerings this evening, and you won’t want to miss today’s amazing destination). After breakfast at your resort, you’ll begin your day’s journey to uncover the ancient Mayan jewel of Tulum, where you’ll explore the 13th-century archaeological site formerly known as Zama.

Tulum Mexico

Although Tulum is a sought-after destination among tourists, many visitors are unprepared for the remote seclusion that makes Tulum what it is; however, with your private guide, you’ll be in for the perfect curated experience of this once-vibrant coastal city. You’ll visit the towering Castle, a 98-foot-tall structure that once guided friendly navigators, and still stands as the focal point of the ancient city. From this vantage point, you’ll be able to understand the historical significance of the walled city, once a bustling center of political and economic activities.

Tulum Mexico

As your guide leads you through Tulum, you’ll discover ancient shrines and terraces, including the Temple of the God of Wind, and the ruins of the Great Palace, where your imagination can transport you to Tulum’s heyday at the pinnacle of the Mayan Empire. Don’t forget to pause at the beach to bask in the sun, or even take a refreshing dip in the inviting turquoise waters,  where you’ll be surrounded by an enchanting ambiance that seamlessly bridges the past and the present.

Once you’ve concluded your time in Tulum, you’ll head back to your resort, where luxury and fine dining await you for the evening!

Mexican Beach

Day 7

Today will be your last full day in Mexico, so it’s the perfect day to choose an experience at your resort that you don’t want to miss! Besides relaxing by the pool or beach, here are a few options for making your last vacation day just as memorable as the adventures of each day so far:
