Disney Cruise Line has officially expanded its private destination portfolio with Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. On the Bahamian island of Eleuthera, this private beach is vibrant and thoughtfully designed. While returning cruisers may be familiar with Castaway Cay, Lookout Cay brings a very different energy. One that centers Bahamian culture, sustainability, and natural beauty.

This destination was developed in partnership with the Bahamian government with a strong focus on environmentally responsible practices and celebrating the local community. You’ll find  architecture inspired by local artists and music, food, and storytelling woven throughout the island. Lookout Cay feels intentional, immersive, and refreshingly unique.

Whether you’re traveling with kids, planning a relaxing adults-only beach day, or somewhere in between, here’s everything you need to know before stepping foot on Disney’s newest private destination.

Arrival & First Impressions

Your day at Lookout Cay begins with a scenic walk across an open-air pier known as Lookout Landing, followed by a short tram ride to Mabrika Cove. Mabrika means “welcome” in the local dialect.

The pier walk takes about 15 minutes, provides no shade, and can feel sunny even in the morning hours. Sunscreen, hats, and comfy shoes are a must. Big emphasis on the comfy shoes. While I’m used to walking, my reef sandals were not and left me with a couple blisters by lunchtime. Wagons are available on a first-come basis, and there were plenty available at both the gangway and tram areas. Guests with mobility needs should visit Guest Services onboard early to arrange golf cart assistance.

Once you arrive, the island opens up into a colorful, music-filled welcome that immediately sets the tone for the day. Lookout Cay is still a new destination, so the vegetation is in early growth stages, but over the coming years, the island will continue to fill in and flourish beautifully.

Once you exit the ship via the gangway, you’ll begin the long, scenic walk down Lookout Landing. As you reach the end of the pier, you’ll notice several important stops right away. To your left is the Turbot Berth Charter Boat check-in, along with a restroom, Mangroves and Go (a great place to grab a drink before hopping on the tram), and the First and Last Chance Stand. This small kiosk is perfect if you forgot essentials like sunscreen or sunglasses or if you want to grab a souvenir on your way out of the island.

Just past this area is the Mabrika Cove tram stop. Unless you’ve rented a Mabrika Cove Cabana or reserved bicycles, you’ll board the tram here. Guests with Mabrika Cabanas or bike rentals will head off to the right to check in at the Mabrika Cove Cabana area before continuing.

Navigating Lookout Cay

The tram ride takes about 10 minutes and drops you at the Goombay Cultural Center tram stop. As soon as you step off, Cast Members are handing out beach towels. Right at the tram exit, you’ll also find Guest Services, restrooms, First Aid, the island’s two main shopping locations, and Plaits & Pleats hair braiding. There’s also an additional bike rental location here called Rocky Point.

Directly behind Guest Services is the Goombay Cultural Center, the heart of the island’s cultural programming and home to the island’s Bahamian-inspired entertainment. If you walk straight toward the beach from here, you’ll find the snorkel rental location just beyond the cultural center.

From this central hub, the island can be split in two directions.

If you’re traveling with kids, head to the right. This brings you to the family beach, Rush Out Gush Out (the large family water play area), Triton’s Trumpet Stage, Play-Play Pavilion, and Sebastian’s Cove (the kids’ club). You’ll also find restrooms, bars, and True-True BBQ on this side, one of the island’s main lunch locations. And if you see banana soft serve available… just try it. Trust me.

If you’re aiming for an adults-only experience, head to the left. You’ll pass True-True Too BBQ on your way to Serenity Bay and the Serenity Bay Cabanas. Continue all the way down to reach the adults-only Blue Hole Bar and Serenity Bay BBQ, a quieter dining option exclusively for adults.

Swimming and snorkeling are available from both the family and adults-only beaches, though the water here can be a bit choppier than Castaway Cay on some days. Beyond Sebastian’s Cove, you’ll also find the start of the nature trail leading toward the island’s lighthouse, where Lighthouse Point gets its name, along with bike paths that wind around the island.
