Must-Do Disney Park Attractions for Families with Young Children

Must-Do Disney – The best park attractions for young children at US Disney Parks.

Introduction

As I write this post, my sister and family quite literally are entering the Disney “bubble” for the very first time, and I am reminded how incredible a first-timer trip to Walt Disney World can be. But it can also be incredibly overwhelming to plan your itinerary, especially with young children.

A trip to Disney Parks is a dream come true for many families, filled with magical moments and unforgettable experiences. To help you make the most of your visit, I’ve curated a list of must-do attractions that are perfect for families with little ones. From classic rides to interactive shows, these experiences are sure to delight both children and adults alike.

Let’s jump right in!

it's a small world
Disney Parks

“it’s a small world” (Disneyland, Magic Kingdom)

No visit to Disney Parks is complete without a ride on “it’s a small world.” This iconic attraction takes guests on a whimsical boat journey through various regions of the world, showcasing colorful animatronic dolls singing the famous song. With its catchy tune and vibrant scenery, it’s a delightful experience that will captivate children of all ages. Even though you will not escape having this song stuck in your head the whole day, the ride itself gives enough time to cool off and relax, before jumping back out into the crowds.

Peter Pan's Flight
Disney Parks

Peter Pan’s Flight (Disneyland, Magic Kingdom)

Fly over the rooftops of London and soar to Neverland aboard a magical pirate ship on Peter Pan’s Flight. This classic dark ride brings to life the beloved story of Peter Pan, Wendy, and the Lost Boys, with stunning visuals and immersive storytelling. Kids will love the sensation of flying through the starry night sky and encountering familiar characters along the way. Although a “dark ride” by definition, I don’t personally think this ride is overly scary for children in any way. It’s whimsical and fun. It is short though coming in at only 3 minutes. Wait times are usually long for this ride, so I recommend riding this early in the morning or later in the evening when wait times are shorter.

Dumbo
Disney Parks

Dumbo the Flying Elephant (Disneyland, Magic Kingdom)

It doesn’t get more classic than Dumbo. Take to the skies with everyone’s favorite flying elephant on Dumbo the Flying Elephant. This gentle spinner ride allows children to control their own flying elephant as they soar high above Fantasyland. With its whimsical theme and interactive controls, it’s a timeless favorite that’s perfect for young adventurers.

Winnie the Pooh
Walt Disney World, Disneyland

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Disneyland, Magic Kingdom)

Join Winnie the Pooh and his friends on a whimsical journey through the Hundred Acre Wood on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. This charming dark ride takes guests through scenes inspired by A.A. Milne’s classic tales, complete with colorful characters, catchy music, and playful interactions. Children will love bouncing along with Tigger and joining Pooh on his quest for honey.

Under the Sea - Journey of The Little Mermaid
Walt Disney World

Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid (Disneyland, Magic Kingdom)

Dive under the sea and join Ariel on a magical adventure in Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid. This enchanting dark ride retells the story of Disney’s The Little Mermaid through stunning animatronics, vibrant scenes, and iconic musical numbers. Kids will be mesmerized as they swim alongside Ariel and encounter beloved characters like Flounder and Sebastian. Dance and sing along with the whole family. This one is definitely not to be missed!

Toy Story Mania! (Disneyland, Hollywood Studios):

Step into the world of Pixar’s Toy Story and put your skills to the test in Toy Story Mania! This interactive 4D attraction invites guests to compete in a series of carnival-style games hosted by Woody, Buzz, and the gang. With its engaging gameplay and colorful graphics, it’s a playful experience. Get your arm muscles ready, you’ll need them!! This ride is wild and fun, you’ll want to ride it over and over again.

Frozen Ever After
Disney Parks – Epcot

Frozen Ever After (Epcot)

Embark on a frosty journey to the kingdom of Arendelle in Frozen Ever After. This enchanting boat ride takes guests through scenes inspired by Disney’s Frozen, complete with beloved characters, icy landscapes, and show-stopping musical moments. Kids will be thrilled to join Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff on their magical adventure. You won’t stop singing “Let It Go” for the rest of the day!!

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin (Disneyland, Magic Kingdom)

Soar high above Agrabah on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. This whimsical spinner ride allows guests to board their own magic carpet and take flight alongside Aladdin and Jasmine. With its playful theme and interactive controls, it’s a fun-filled experience that’s perfect for families with young children.

Enchanted Tales with Belle
Disney Parks

Enchanted Tales with Belle (Disneyland, Magic Kingdom)

Step into the enchanting world of Beauty and the Beast in Enchanted Tales with Belle. This interactive storytelling experience allows children to play a role in retelling the tale of how Belle and the Beast fell in love. From acting out scenes to meeting Belle herself, it’s a magical experience that encourages creativity and imagination. No one is forced to participate if they don’t want to, but if you do, just raise your hand!

Mickey’s PhilharMagic (Disneyland, Magic Kingdom)

This is one of my all-time favorites!! Experience the magic of Disney music like never before in Mickey’s PhilharMagic. This 3D concert film takes guests on a musical journey through classic Disney songs, led by the one and only Mickey Mouse. With its stunning visuals and immersive sound, it’s a captivating experience that will delight children of all ages. The recently added Coco scenes are beautifully woven and integrated into the already incredible story. Stop in and sing along with your family and friends!

Conclusion

Planning a trip to Disney Parks with young children can be a magical experience filled with laughter, excitement, and unforgettable memories. By including these must-do attractions in your itinerary, you can ensure that your family’s visit is nothing short of enchanting.
