No planned visit to Disneyland Park is complete without a Disneyland ride guide of all its attractions!
The original Disney park and “Happiest Place on Earth,” Disneyland Park is the park that started it all. It’s also the park that pioneered the trend of theme parks, which was a big push away from the more popular amusement parks of the time. With all that Disneyland has to offer, it’s no surprise that the rides there are on par with its theming.
This is your ultimate guide to every ride and attraction at Disneyland Park.
Important Details to Know About Rides at Disneyland Park
Table of Contents
Knowing some simple-but-important details about the rides at Disneyland Park is key to a magical vacation.
In this guide, you’ll find a understanding of each ride’s storytelling. You’ll also learn what type of guest will enjoy each ride and what type of guest might want to skip it. Next, you’ll learn which rides offer specific access options such as single rider or Lightning Lane service. Finally, you’ll learn each ride’s height requirement in order to understand if you and your group can ride together.
The following guide has each of these bits of information to make understanding the rides at Lightning Lane easier.
Before jumping into each Lightning Lane ride, let’s briefly cover several ride access options you can expect to see.
Rider Switch Options
Guests have the option of using Rider Switch, which is popular among families with kiddos who can’t or don’t want to ride a particular ride.
With the Rider Switch option, 1 person stays with the non-rider while the other responsible party (age 14 and up) and accompanying guests (up to 2) enjoy the attraction. Once finished, they can switch riders in order to experience the same attraction without having to wait again in the queue.
Rider Switch is a great way to ensure that anyone can ride without worrying about their younger kiddo!
Useful Tools for Reduced Wait Times: Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass
More prevalent across the Disney World theme parks is Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass – both paid services that allow you to make attraction “reservations” through the My Disney Experience mobile app.
A complete replacement of the FastPass+ service from years past, Lightning Lane Multi Pass gives guests specific return-times to ride multiple attractions throughout the day. On the other hand, the Lightning Lane Single Pass, allows you to purchase individual reservations for the most in-demand rides and attractions.
Both of these tools, when used strategically, allow you to experience a high number of rides and attractions you otherwise couldn’t do on a busy Disney park day.
Virtual Queue System
Disney has utilized the virtual queue system for its newest and most popular attractions instead of a standby queue.
Virtual queues allow for improved crowd control, creating a better guest experience. It also helps cut down on wait times so you can enjoy more rides and attractions during your visit.
Note however that if a ride uses a virtual queue, there is no standby queue available for that same ride.
Disneyland Ride Guide: Rides by Area
Disneyland Park is divided into 9 different themed lands for all its rides.
While most of the themed lands at Disneyland Park share identical names to most of the themed lands at Magic Kingdom in Florida, there’s 1 exception. There’s also a number of rides unique to Disneyland, making it a must-visit for Disney World fans who have never visited Disneyland. From the retro-futuristic Tomorrowland to a thrilling adventure with Indiana Jones, Magic Kingdom has rides and attractions that everyone in the family can enjoy.
Let’s go over each themed area and their respective rides and attractions.
Rides at Main Street, U.S.A.
Main Street, U.S.A. is quintessential Disneyland.
As you walk under the tunnel past the main entrance, you step out of this world and into a turn of the century American Main Street, U.S.A. You’ll find a firehouse and the Main Street Opera House in Town Square, shops along the street, and the main attraction and ride here: the Disneyland Railroad.
Disneyland Railroad
The Disneyland Railroad is undoubtedly one of the most classic attractions at Disneyland.
The Disneyland Railroad gives you a 18-minute, 1.2-mile scenic round-trip tour of Disneyland on a restored, vintage narrow-gauge steam train. Taking after Walt Disney’s passion for trains, the Disneyland Railroad is both convenient as you embark on your magical vacation and nostalgic for the past.
The Disneyland Railroad is one of my favorite classic attractions ever.
Skip If: With a classic attraction like this, it’s hard to find a reason not to experience this attraction at least once!
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: This isn’t the only place to board the Disneyland Railroad. You can also board the train at the following stations:
- New Orleans Square
- Mickey’s Toontown
- Tomorrowland
Rides at Adventureland
Inspired by the remote jungles of Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America, the South Pacific, and the Caribbean, Adventureland blends together many different architectural styles – and does it really well.
From the Victorian era and the 1920’s to Middle Eastern-style bazaars and colonial-style Spanish forts, Adventureland is home to many classic Disneyland rides.
Jungle Cruise
Jungle Cruise takes you for a high adventure on a scenic and comedic tour of exotic rivers across Asia, Africa, and South America.
An absolute classic Disneyland attraction, you’ll board a canopied tramp steamer piloted by your trusty Jungle Cruise skipper, who will “expertly navigate you through some of the world’s most treacherous waters.” Full of animatronic angry hippos, hungry lions, “sleeping” zebras, and corny dad-jokes, you’re bound to learn a thing or two – and laugh a lot along the way. And by the end of the ride, your Jungle Cruise skipper will likely tell you to get out.
I’m sorry, that was rude – they’ll say, “please, get out.”
Skip If: You really don’t like corny dad-jokes (just kidding – honestly, it’s hard to find a reason not to ride this ride!)
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: Jungle Cruise’s re-rideability factor is off the charts. Each ride has you tour with a different skipper each time, which leads to different jokes (or the same jokes told with different emphasis) and different energies. You’ll never get the same experience twice!
Indiana Jones Adventure
Indiana Jones Adventure lets you follow Indy’s footsteps into the crumbling Temple of the Forbidden Eye.
Once you board your rugged troop transport, you’ll enter the Chamber of Destiny. Just make sure not to look into the Forbidden Eye of Mara! You’ll then drive past intricate booby traps, roll over molten lava, escape screaming mummies, and more!
Full of nonstop action, Indiana Jones Adventure is easily one of my all-time favorite rides at Disneyland.
Skip If: You don’t do well with fast-paced thrill rides. This ride simulates quick driving over rough terrain
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Rider Switch
Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 46″ (117cm)
Tip: If you’re familiar with Dinosaur at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you’ll be familiar with the ride track layout for Indiana Jones Adventure. Both attractions share the same layout!
Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
Another absolute classic Disney attraction, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is a swinging South Seas musical extravaganza.
Once the show starts, you’ll be transported to a tropical paradise full of tropical birds, Tiki gods, and colorful flowers that come to life. Everyone in your party can enjoy this musical attraction, full of over 225 choreographed audio-animatronics.
You’re bound to have yet another catchy tune stuck in your head after experiencing Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room!
Skip If: Again, it’s hard to find a reason not to experience this attraction at least once!
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: Since this attraction is designed as a “theater-in-the-round,” you’ll get a great view of the show no matter where you sit!
Adventureland Treehouse Inspired by Walt Disney’s Swiss Family Robinson
The Adventureland Treehouse is the ultimate treehouse inspired by the classic film, Swiss Family Robinson.
On this attraction, you get to walk up to tour the fascinating rooms that a new family created among the trees. Everything here is fashioned from found objects, natural resources, and pure ingenuity. Make sure to explore all the details hidden in the rooms of these adventurers!
The best part: at the top of the treehouse, you’ll get gorgeous views of Adventureland and the rest of Disneyland Park.
Skip If: You’re uncomfortable with heights or have mobility issues
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: There’s rarely a wait to visit the Swiss Family Treehouse. We recommend making a visit as the sun is setting. This gives you even more beautiful views of Adventureland and the rest of Disneyland.
Rides at New Orleans Square
With an intricate set of streets weaving around shops, restaurants, and rides, New Orleans Square is an absolute classic land at Disneyland.
Based on 19th-century New Orleans, Louisiana, New Orleans Square was the first land to be opened after Disneyland’s grand opening. It’s also special in that it’s exclusive to Disneyland and no other Disney park!
Let’s go over the rides in New Orleans Square.
Pirates of the Caribbean
One of the most influential theme park rides ever created, Pirates of the Caribbean was so popular that Walt Disney Imagineering had to make an almost identical ride at Magic Kingdom in Florida.
Pirates of the Caribbean is a slow flume ride that recounts the story of a pirate raid on a Caribbean island settlement. Guests “that be seeking adventure” will navigate past Pirates Grotto, Dead Man’s Cove, Hurricane Lagoon, a foggy Caribbean fort, and a striking 12-gun galleon. And you’ll definitely get the pirates’ anthem, “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
Don’t forget to spot Jack Sparrow throughout the ride, from the movie franchise that was inspired by this very ride!
Skip If: You don’t do well with short drops or dark, enclosed spaces
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: This ride tends to see high wait times mid-day. To have the shortest standby queue time, your best bet is to get in line before noon or after 5:00pm.
Haunted Mansion
Yet another classic and fan-favorite Disneyland ride, Haunted Mansion takes you on a journey through a labyrinth of haunted chambers.
After boarding your gloomy Doom Buggy, you’ll tour a mansion full of 999 unearthly specters, including your Ghost Host, Madame Leota, the Portrait Chamber, the Graveyard, and the famous hitchhiking ghosts. And throughout your journey, you’ll hear yet another popular musical ear worm, “Grim Grinning Ghosts.”
Skip If: You’re uncomfortable with riding a dark ride with several mildly frightening scenes (but it’s important to note that there’s no gore)
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: During the Halloween and Christmas seasons, don’t miss out on Haunted Mansion Holiday, in which the ride gets a merry make over by Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Every year, a massive custom-made gingerbread house is the centerpiece the ballroom scene in the ride!
Rides at Bayou Country
Situated on the edge of New Orleans Square, Bayou Country is full of friendly wooded animals you might be familiar with!
Bayou Country (previously known as Critter Country) is full of shady trees and mesmerizing music.
Let’s go over all the rides you’ll find in Bayou Country.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Following Walt Disney’s belief, Disneyland is always changing, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is proof of that.
Formerly Splash Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will bring you into the world of The Princess and the Frog. Described as Tiana’s “second act,” this ride takes you on a musical adventure through the bayou as Princess Tiana, Naveen, and Louis the jazz-loving alligator host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome.
Along the way, you’ll meet some familiar faces, make new friends, and travel through the bayou through original music inspired by the film!
Skip If: You dislike rides with big drops
Access: Virtual Queue, Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Rider Switch
Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 40″ (102cm)
Tip: With plenty of opportunities to get wet, you’ll want to wear a poncho on this ride, that is, unless you’re okay with getting soaked. If that’s the case, at least bring an extra pair of socks!
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Based on the popular characters imagined by A.A. Milne, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is an outright classic.
On this ride, you’ll travel through the Hundred-Acre Wood in an oversized Hunny Pot as you get swept away by a gust of wind, slide into Owl’s House, jump up and down with Tigger, and even enter a dream world with singing Heffalumps and Woozles.
This colorful, song-filled storybook-come-to-life is a delightful romp through the scenes and sounds of the classic Disney Film Winnie the Pooh.
Skip If: You have kiddos who might get startled by the mildly bumpy nature of the ride or the loud sounds and bright colors of Heffalumps and Woozles
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: Don’t forget to swing by Pooh Corner for an sweet treat, made in-house!
Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes
Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes give you a completely different perspective on the Rivers of America.
For the more adventurous guests, you’ll get to paddle all the way around Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island in a 20-passenger vessel. And yes, these are real, free-floating canoes. No motor. No track. And they’re modeled after the boats that early Native American and European explorers used!
Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes is a fun, interactive, and active ride for all ages!
Skip If: Since this ride is in the middle of the water, you may want to avoid riding this in the middle of the day during Summer.
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: Although this ride is known as a workout, the river guides who sit in the front and back of the canoe are very capable of navigating the waters by themselves. So you really don’t have to worry about having to work so hard!
Rides at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is 14 acres of breathtaking land that fully immerses you in the Star Wars universe and is one of the newest areas in this Disneyland ride guide,
This land, which is at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Park, consists of several restaurants, stores, and 2 incredible rides:
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is Disney’s most technologically advanced ride to date and one of the most popular items on our Hollywood Studios ride guide.
After a long queue that enters the trenches of a Resistance base, you enter the first pre-show, where you’re briefed on a mission by Rey, BB-8, and Poe Dameron. You then enter your transport ship that’s supposed to take you to General Organa’s secret base on Pacara.
However, the First Order has other plans as they take your entire ship captive onto their Star Destroyer.
Just as you’re getting interrogated by Kylo Ren, Resistance fighters break you out, but the ride has only just begun! On this ride, you get to experience an unforgettable battle against the First Order.
Make sure to ride this attraction early or purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass, as wait times rise quickly!
Skip If: You’re prone to motion sickness or don’t do well with drop rides
Access: Lightning Lane Single Pass, Rider Switch, Single Rider
Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 40″ (102cm)
Tip: This ride is notorious for long waits and breaking down in the middle of the day. If this ride is highest on your priority list, we suggest riding Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance first thing in the morning or with a Lightning Lane Single Pass.
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run is arguably the most expensive video game you’ll ever see at Disneyland!
The queue for this ride is filled to the brim with Star Wars details. With first-hand looks at the backside of the Millennium Falcon, a mechanic shop, and an engine room, you could spend endless amounts of time looking for the details on this ride.
The pre-show has you meeting Hondo Ohnaka, the pirate behind your job. Your mission: steal and deliver precious cargo from First Order TIE fighters. This interactive ride puts you and 5 other guests in the cockpit of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. How successful your mission goes is completely up to your team of pilots, gunners, and engineers!
Whatever you do, make sure to take a photo in front of a life-sized version of Han Solo’s classic ship!
Skip If: You’re prone to motion sickness or don’t do well with virtual reality games
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Rider Switch, Single Rider
Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 38″ (97cm)
Tip: If you can, make sure to spend time exploring the pre-loading area, which is a recreation of the chess room in the Millennium Falcon!
Rides at Frontierland
Frontierland allows you to relive the American Old West with these Disneyland rides.
The stockade-style structures and pioneer trappings are just a few of the details in this extremely popular land.
Frontierland has some more classic Disneyland attractions:
Mark Twain Riverboat
A steam-powered paddler wheeler, the Mark Twain Riverboat takes you on a tour of the Rivers of America.
With 4 decks to take in the sights of New Orleans Square and Adventureland, you’ll also get great views of Tom Sawyer Island, Columbia Gorge, a passing settler cabin, a Native American Village, and a small group of wildlife along the way.
Staying true to their attention to detail, Disney designed this 28-foot tall riverboat as a reproduction of the historic vessels that ferried guests up and down the Mississippi.
Skip If: You’re short on time during your visit and want to prioritize other rides and attractions
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: The Mark Twain Riverboat is one of the best attractions to get away from the hustle and bustle of Disneyland.
Sailing Ship Columbia
As a Florida resident, I am extremely jealous that Disneyland has the Sailing Ship Columbia.
A stunning replica of the first American ship to circumnavigate the globe, you can set foot in the Sailing Ship Columbia’s above- and belowdecks and see what it would have been like to work this fully rigged 18th-century ship.
Between the Mark Twain Riverboat, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, and the Sailing Ship Columbia, I’d ride the Sailing Ship Columbia any day!
Skip If: You’re short on time during your visit and want to prioritize other rides and attractions
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: Just like the Mark Twain Riverboat, the Sailing Ship Columbia is one of the best attractions to get away from the hustle and bustle of Disneyland.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad takes you on a speeding mine train through a haunted gold mine.
So the legend goes, soon after gold was discovered here in the 1850s, eerie things began to happen, like trains taking off and racing through tunnels – by themselves. Aboard your mine train, you’ll race through a cursed cavern along a rickety track, dodging exploding dynamite and falling boulders as you make your way through the mysterious ghost town of Tumbleweed.
This really is the wildest ride in the wilderness!
Skip If: You’re prone to motion sickness
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Rider Switch
Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 40″ (102cm)
Tip: Another popular ride with long waits, it will be worth waiting in this interactive queue, full of fun details that keep you and the kiddos entertained.
Rides at Fantasyland
Fantasyland is the place where children of all ages can step right into their own fairytale.
Inspired by a medieval-faire, this carnival-style land features the most amount of rides of any themed land at Disneyland, including many based on classic Disney animated features, including Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Let’s go over each ride and attraction in Fantasyland.
Pinocchio’s Daring Journey
Where else can you relive this classic Disney movie?
On Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, you’ll hop on a woodcarver’s cart and relive the story of Pinocchio, the wooden puppet who dreamed of becoming a real boy. Along the way, you’ll venture to the ominous Pleasure Island, escape the clutches of puppet-master Stromboli, and face the dangers of Monstro the Whale. The entire time, the Blue Fairy guides Pinocchio, ending your ride with a heartwarming transformation.
Pinocchio’s Daring Journey is a classic, family-friendly experience.
Skip If: You’re short on time during your visit and want to prioritize other rides and attractions
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: You won’t typically see high wait times for this ride. However, for the shortest wait times, plan to ride before 12:00 noon or after 3:30pm
Snow White’s Enchanted Wish
This ride is a tribute to the feature animated film that eventually made Disney a household name, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
You’ll board mine carts and follow Snow White as she flees from the Evil Queen. You’ll journey through the Evil Queen’s castle, the Dwarfs’ cozy cottage, and an enchanting diamond mine filled with sparkling gems. When all looks lost, will Snow White find her own happily ever after?
Snow White’s Enchanted Wish seamlessly blends classic Disney storytelling with modern magic – a must-do for Disney fans!
Skip If: You have kiddos who might get startled by the action and intensity of seeing the Evil Queen and Snow White as she narrowly escapes harm
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: This ride tends to have medium-to-high wait times. For the shortest wait times, plan to ride before 11:00am or after 5:00pm
King Arthur Carousel
Just behind Sleeping Beauty Castle is a classic attraction inspired by Disney’s animated feature Sleeping Beauty.
King Arthur Carousel is a traditional carrousel made up of 68 wood-carved ornate horses. Each horse is unique and a marvel to look at. And above you is a series of 9 hand-painted vignettes on the inner rounding board.
This ride is perfect for families looking for a relaxing break from the rest of the theme park.
Skip If: You’re short on time during your visit and want to prioritize other rides and attractions
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: This ride was built by the Dentzel Carousel Company almost 100 years ago and has been delighting guests since Disneyland opened in 1955. It’s a true treasure of the theme park!
Casey Jr. Circus Train
One of the original rides that premiered at Disneyland Park in 1955, case Jr. Circus Train takes you on a whimsical tour through some of your favorite Disney movies.
Inspired by the animated classic Dumbo, Casey Jr. takes you on a festive circus train ride over happy hills and through verdant valleys. Along the way, you’ll get wonderful views of a tiny countryside, featuring the village of Arendelle from Frozen, the royal city of Agrabah and Cave of Wonders from Aladdin, the French countryside village and mountaintop castle from Cinderella, and more.
Casey Jr. Circus Train is a delightful mix of nostalgia and scenic views for all ages.
Skip If: You’re short on time during your visit and want to prioritize other rides and attractions
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height – although, if you are a taller adult, you might find yourself having to squeeze into the smaller train cars
Tip: This ride has the same sights as Storybook Land Canal Boats, but with a faster ride time and decreased wait time. Due to the differences in ride experience, we recommend riding both!
Dumbo the Flying Elephant
The next ride in Fantasyland is Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
Based on the Disney animated feature Dumbo, this classic attraction puts you atop everybody’s favorite circus elephant as he discovers he can fly. Much like Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland, Dumbo the Flying Elephant lifts you off for a graceful cruise around Fantasyland, giving you great views of Disneyland as you control how high or low you want to soar.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a classic ride that all families can enjoy! This is another one of the classic Disneyland rides.
Skip If: You or your kiddos have a fear of heights
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: This is a very popular ride at Disneyland. For the best chance at having the lowest wait time, get on this ride early in the morning
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride
If you’ve ever wondered why Disney guests were so sad to see this ride go at Disney World, this is your chance.
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride invites you to board a motorcar for a zany journey through Toad Hall, the countryside, and a variety of unexpected locations. Along the way, you’ll encounter some wild situations, like a run-in with the police and a dramatic train crash – and even going to the underworld.
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is a classic opening-day Disneyland ride with vibrant sets, playful storytelling, and a dash of mischief.
Skip If: You have kiddos who might get startled by the action, intensity, and loud sound effects. The final scene of the underworld might spook kiddos as well
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: Wait times increase early in the day and usually stay high. For the shortest wait times, catch this ride before 11:00am
Peter Pan’s Flight
Peter Pan’s Flight is one of the most popular attractions at Disneyland – and for good reason.
A very simple ride by today’s technologically advanced standards, Peter Pan’s Ride is a fan-favorite among Disney park enthusiasts, sending you on a flying voyage aboard your very own pirate ship. Aboard your ship, you’ll fly over Darling’s nursery, London, and even straight through a battle between Captain Hook and Peter Pan.
Don’t be surprised if you feel like a kid again after riding Peter Pan’s Flight!
Skip If: You or your kiddos have a fear of heights
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: Be prepared as this is a popular ride that often sees high wait times. For the best chance at the lowest wait times, make sure to ride first thing in the morning or late at night
Mad Tea Party
Just like the classic attraction at Magic Kingdom in Disney World, Mad Tea Party lets you spin ’round and ’round in a giant teacup during a madcap music-filled whirlwind.
This is one of the most iconic Disneyland rides. Here, you can celebrate your “un-birthday” in Wonderland as you pour yourself into 1 of 18 oversized tea cups. For an even wilder ride, turn the wheel in the middle of your tea cup as fast as you can and hold on!
This classic attraction based on the Disney animated classic Alice in Wonderland, this ride is great for the thrill seeker kiddos.
Skip If: You’re prone to motion sickness or dislike spinning rides
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: If you dislike spinning rides but still want to ride Mad Tea Party, you can control your spinning speed by turning your wheel slower or not at all and simply enjoy a gentle turn around the table.
Alice in Wonderland
Another classic Fantasyland ride you won’t see at Disney World, Alice in Wonderland takes you on an adventure through the whimsical and nonsensical world of the classic tale by Lewis Carroll.
On this ride, you’ll take a journey through Wonderland, reliving classic scenes and characters like the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, the Queen of Heart’s croquet game, and a zany chase through the Tugley Wood. One of my favorite parts of this ride is the outdoor portion that takes you from the second floor back down to the first floor, adding an extra layer of enchantment.
Alice in Wonderland is a must-do ride for all ages.
Skip If: With a classic attraction like this, it’s hard to find a reason not to experience this attraction at least once!
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: This is a popular attraction that often sees long wait times. To get the shortest wait possible, ride early in the day – usually after riding Peter Pan’s Flight
Matterhorn Bobsleds
The Matterhorn is one of the most distinctive landmarks that makes guests want to visit Disneyland Park.
Matterhorn Bobsleds is the world’s first-ever tubular steel roller coaster taking you on a high-speed adventure through a towering, snow-capped mountain inspired by the Swiss Alps. You’ll board bobsled-style vehicles and race through dark caves, icy tunnels, and steep drops. Just be careful to evade the legendary Abominable Snowman!
Matterhorn Bobsleds is a classic icon of Disneyland that guests constantly come back to ride.
Skip If: You are not comfortable riding one of the bumpiest roller coasters in any Disney theme park. The ride vehicle is similar to that of Space Mountain at Disney World, but some would argue that Matterhorn is more bumpy
Access:Â Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Single Rider, Rider Switch
Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 42″ (107cm)
Tip: Despite its bumpy ride, Matterhorn Bobsleds consistently has high wait times throughout the day. For the shortest wait times, ride first thing in the morning or just before the park closes. Additionally, this is one of three rides at Disneyland that feature a Single Rider queue, so you can take advantage of this access perk
Storybook Land Canal Boats
This is one of the most underrated, relaxing rides at Disneyland Park.
Like Casey Jr. Circus Train, Storybook Land Canal Boats takes you on a journey through the miniature countryside featuring scenes from our beloved Disney stories. However, unlike Casey Jr., you’ll board an open-air boat and glide through a tranquil canal. Along the way, you’ll get an up close and more detailed perspective of the countryside.
Storybook Land Canal Boats is easily one of my favorite rides at Disneyland.
Skip If: With a classic attraction like this, it’s hard to find a reason not to experience this attraction at least once!
Access: None (other than standby queue)
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: For the best views of the miniature countryside, ride Storybook Land Canal Boats after sunset. Extra Tip: This is one of the most romantic places to propose to your significant other. I would know, because this is where I proposed to my wife!
“it’s a small world”
Home to the original ear worm of a song composed by the brilliant Richard and Robert Sherman, “it’s a small world” is arguably the most iconic ride at any Disney theme park.
Also known as the “happiest cruise that ever sailed,” “it’s a small world” was designed and created as a tribute to the children of the world for the UNICEF pavilion at the 1964/65 World’s Fair. This enchanting 10-minute journey takes kids and kids-at-heart on the Seven Seaways Waterway, where you can watch almost 300 traditionally dressed dolls singing the beloved Sherman Brothers song.
By the end of your voyage, Walt Disney’s simple message is clear: it truly is a small world after all.
Skip If: You don’t want another ear worm stuck in your head for the rest of your vacation
Access: Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: This ride is a great spot to watch the nighttime fireworks since the fireworks projections are shown on the facade and the fireworks are close by
Mickey’s Toontown
All ages will love this land, but the youngest kiddos will especially have fun here.
Mickey’s Toontown is a whimsical land that gives you interactive elements at every turn. Almost everything in Toontown is designed to be pushed, pulled, and poked. You can even meet Mickey and Minnie in their own homes!
Mickey’s Toontown is also home to 3 popular Disneyland attractions.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Did you know that this is Disney’s first-ever ride that features Mickey and Minnie Mouse?
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway allows you to step through the movie screen and join Mickey and the gang on an incredible experience blending the 3D human world with the 2D animated world. Before riding, you’re invited to watch the premiere of a new Mickey Mouse cartoon about Mickey and Minnie preparing for a picnic outing and encountering Goofy driving a train.
With the pre-show setting up the ride perfectly, you then climb aboard a runaway train and go on a whirlwind ride through Mickey’s world. This family-friendly ride is full of dazzling visual effects and surprising twists and turns. Oh, and prepare your ears for the catchy theme song!
This trackless dark ride is fun for the entire family!
Skip If: You don’t do well with 3D shows
Access: Disney Lightning Lane Multi Pass
Height Requirements: Any Height
Tip: There are a lot of Easter eggs and Hidden Mickeys on this ride. See if you can spot the numbers 1901 and 1928 during the ride, which correspond to the birth years of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, respectively
Chip ‘N’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster
Chip ‘N’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster is a great introductory to the kiddos who want more thrill out of their rides.
Inspired by Gadget Hackwrench from Chip ‘N’ Dale Rescue rangers, this roller coaster features a whimsical, makeshift contraption built from everyday items like acorns, wrenches, and rubber bands. On this coaster, you’ll zip through tight turns and small drops.
Riding GADGETcoaster may take just under 1 minute, but it’s a delightful adventure that’s perfect for the kiddos.
Skip If: Your kiddos do not do well with coaster rides
Access: Rider Switch
Height Requirements: Guests must be at least 35″ (89cm)
Tip: Because the coaster is both visually attractive yet slow to load guests, expect longer wait times. If this ride is a priority for you or your kiddos, ride it within the first 30 minutes that Mickey’s Toontown is open
Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin
Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin allows you to join Roger Rabbit, Benny the cab, and Jessica Rabbit to stop the diabolical plans of the villanous Weasels.
Based on the Academy Award-winning film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin takes you on a wild journey through the bustling streets of Towntown, where you can spin your vehicle a full 360 degrees.
More than just a fun and zany ride, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin features some of the best effects of ANY Disneyland dark ride.
Skip If: You’re prone to motion sickness or dislike spinning rides

That’s because unlike Magic Kingdom’s tubular steel track roller coaster, Space Mountain at Disneyland uses a different ride system that makes your ride much smoother. Regardless, this rocket ship ride blasts you through space with a classic retro-futuristic soundtrack echoing around you.
Space Mountain is a favorite that sees long waits, so ride it early in the day!
