Holiday Festivities in Orlando

While many of us are gearing up to trade in our swimsuits for snow boots, Orlando is prepping for the most magical season of the year . Whether you’d rather swap snowflakes for snoap on Main Street USA or sip on a warm butterbeer under the lights in Hogsmeade, there’s truly no better place to spend the most wonderful time of the year than at one of Orlando’s theme parks. From festive parades and special nighttime spectaculars to holiday treats and unforgettable character experiences. Each park has its own version of holiday cheer. Let’s break down everything you need to know to plan your perfect festive getaway this year.

Holiday Events at Walt Disney World Resort

There is truly nothing like the holidays at Walt Disney World. From the shimmering decorations in each park to the scent of gingerbread in the resort lobbies, you’re fully immersed in the holiday season. Every park creates its own kind of magic and whether you’re after thrills or nostalgia, Disney always delivers.

Magic Kingdom

If there’s one event that tops our personal holiday wish list, it’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. On select nights from the beginning of November through December, Magic Kingdom transforms into a winter wonderland. Complete with snow (snoap!) on Main Street, exclusive character meet and greets, the Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, and Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show. This is a separately ticketed event and it can sell out quickly.

Even if you decide not to attend the party, you’ll still catch the festive touches that come with the holiday season. Exclusive treats, decor, and Christmas music will fill the air from rope drop to fireworks. You can catch the Frozen Holiday Surprise stage show daily in front of Cinderella’s Castle featuring your favorite Frozen characters. You’ll also be able to watch the Disney’s Starlight Parade running twice every evening after the sun goes down.

EPCOT

If you’re familiar with EPCOT, you know that there are four different festivals that happen throughout the year. To close out the year, EPCOT celebrates the season in a true global style during the International Festival of the Holidays. This festival runs in 2025 from November 28th through December 30th. Each World Showcase pavilion shares how their country celebrates this time of year and you can even take part in the Cookie Stroll, a favorite for Disney fans of every age. From storytellers to seasonal food booths, it’s like traveling the world through their holiday traditions.

Don’t miss the Candlelight Processional, a stunning retelling of the Christmas story featuring different celebrity narrators and a full orchestra and choir. This event happens three times each evening. You can see the different narrators here. The seating does fill up quickly, but you can secure your spot by purchasing the Candlelight Processional Dining package which includes a meal and a designated seat for the event.

Hollywood Studios

The newest party to join the holiday lineup is Disney’s Jollywood Nights. This bejeweled, after hours event with retro-Hollywood flair comes with sparkling cocktails, vintage music, and themed photo ops. During the day, the For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration stage show, gets its own holiday twist. Once the sun goes down, keep an eye on the Tower of Terror for the Sunset Seasons Greetings projection show which happens every evening intermittently.

Animal Kingdom

This park tends to stick to a quieter celebration. Though, you can find my absolute favorite holiday speciality here – the Merry Menagerie. These are handcrafted animal puppets that bring Discovery Island to life. At night, The Tree of Life awakens with a special holiday projection show that is as mesmerizing as it is memorable. Make sure to pop over and visit our friends Mickey and Minnie in their festive outfits over at Adventure Outpost!

Walt Disney World Resorts

Don’t forget the resort hotels! Each Disney resort gets decked out for the season. We’re talking 70 foot Christmas trees and life-sized gingerbread houses. The most iconic is the Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, where Cast Members actually sell freshly baked gingerbread shingles. Unfortunately, due to construction at the resort, there won’t be a gingerbread house in 2025. Another resort that is known for its holiday decor is the Wilderness Lodge. There is just something about the cabin style and christmas tree that is like a giant hug of nostalgia. Select resorts also offer holiday menus with specialty food and beverages.

Disney Springs

We can’t leave out the holiday cheer at Disney Springs! Visit during the holiday season and take part in the Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll where you can find 20 expertly-decorated, Disney-themed trees. Find them all and win a prize! Take the kids to meet Santa and then pop in to Jock Lindsay’s Holiday Bar for the holiday layover of one of our favorite restaurants.

Holiday Events at Universal Orlando Resort

If Disney is all about holiday wonder, Universal Orlando Resort brings the holiday cheer with a bit of attitude with equal parts nostalgia, laughter, and movie magic. From the Grinch’s snarky charm in Seuss Landing to the snow drifting through Diagon Alley, Universal’s celebration is a must for families looking for fun and a little bit of flair.

Universal Islands of Adventure

Nothing quite says “Merry Grinchmas” quite like the Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular. This live retelling of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas includes singing Whos, jaw-dropping sets, and one very grouchy (but lovable) Grinch. Make sure you don’t miss the Grinch meet and greet for one of the most hilarious, in-character photo ops in all of Orlando. If you’d rather not wait in the standby queue for the meet and greet, The Grinch and Friends Character Breakfast is a great alternative! Dine with your favorite Who’s and snack on some Green Eggs and Ham before starting your day. In Seuss Landing, every inch is decked out in colorful holiday decor that perfectly matches the Dr. Seuss vibe. The Who-liday joy is contagious. Be careful, your heart will grow three sizes!

Universal Studios Florida

You can’t miss Universal’s Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s. Think gigantic balloons, dancers, and your favorite Universal characters. It’s big and bright and full of joy. You’ll even spy Santa himself closing out the parade beneath a flurry of confetti. The viewing for this parade can get packed, so we recommend you arrive at least an hour before you’d like to watch. If you are an Annual Passholder, there is a first come, first served viewing area in front of Mel’s Drive In on Thursday through Sunday.

While the Grinch might be the must-do character meet and greet in Island of Adventure, our personal must-do meet and greet is Earl the Squirrel. You can find him on select dates in CityWalk Plaza!

Epic Universe

This is the first year we will be able to experience the holiday season at Epic Universe. We know that Santa has a workshop in Celestial Park and you can visit North Star Wintry Wonders every day of the year. We look forward to how this park will be decorated for its first magical winter period.

In the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, it’s definitely Christmas at Hogwarts. Diagon Alley in Universal Studios, Hosgmeade in Island of Adventure, and the Ministry of Magic in Epic Universe all celebrate the holidays with a magical touch. You’ll hear enchanted carols from the Frog Choir, sip on hot Butterbeer, and end your evening watching the Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle projection show. This is easily one of the most breathtaking nighttime displays in Orlando. Arrive early to grab a spot near the castle. Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone if you shed a few tears.

Universal Resorts

Universal’s on-site hotels go all out too from towering Christmas trees to themed feasts. Resorts like Loews Portofino Bay Hotel even host a Holiday Harbor Nights event with live music and Italian-style festivities. Sip some cocoa by the pool or go for a walk and take in the resort lights. Universal keeps the magic going long after the parks close.

Holiday Events at SeaWorld Orlando

You’ve likely considered a trip to visit Disney World or Universal Studios when thinking of Orlando. Did you know that SeaWorld Orlando also has a Christmas celebration? They decorate with over three million lights, festive shows, and even an encounter with Santa that includes sea lions. It’s one of Orlando’s most underrated holiday experiences and it’s absolutely worth adding to your itinerary.

SeaWorld’s lagoon transforms into a twinkling wonderland with more than 100 Christmas trees dancing to music across the water. The reflections, the lights, and the festive tunes are pure holiday serenity. Snag a cup of hot chocolate and take in one of the most beautiful light displays in Central Florida. You can even catch the view from the bridge near Bayside Stadium for incredible photos. You can also see Hanukkah candle lightings, Kwanzaa celebrations and even a special fireworks display for New Year’s Eve.

Don’t miss the special events that are a part of SeaWorld for the holidays. Winter Wonderland on Ice is a must see ice skating show. It blends fountains, fireworks, and holiday choreography set to a symphony of festive music. You can also meet Santa and Rudolph inside the Wild Arctic exhibit that is transformed into a winter cabin. Stop by the Christmas Market for some festive treats like peppermint cocoa and holiday churros.
